Writing And/As The Mother

The Mother Lab returns this January.

6 weeks of inspiring readings and art by and about motherhood, queer parenthood, sexuality, care work, domesticity, the family, and the creative process for writers who also mother and care.

No workshops. Just inspiration, discussion, and generative writing prompts that you can use to start a project, get inspiration for a manuscript in progress, or just advance your craft and your knowledge of maternal art. You’ll also connect with other writers and artists who mother.

Spots are limited for this popular class. Scroll down for more info and to register.

Writing And/As The Mother

TK information about the class

Looking at work by writers and artists such as Mary Kelly, Mierle Ukeles, Maggie Nelson, Rachel Yoder, Rivka Galchen, and many more, TK

This class is open to anyone who identifies as a mother or caregiver who wants to learn about literature and art made by and about the maternal. It’s great for writers who are also mothers, but also for anyone writing or making art about their mothers, parenthood, or caregiving more generally, even if they are not parents themselves.

All genres and levels are welcome. We will look at fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art. This is a generative class that includes short readings, discussion, and generative prompts, so it’s completely adaptable for wherever you may be in your process or writing project.
